With time we have evolved good not only physically but also mentally. If you peep long back, our brain capacity was so low that with that brain you can’t even imagine performing your daily stuffs.
The things that surprises me time and time again is how we think our brains work and how it actually does.
From toddler to elementary-school child, teenager to adult, middle age to senior citizen—different versions of your brain emerge, each one of them adapted to continue learning and performing tasks.
But the question is at what age your brain works at it’s best?
At around age 15-17, a lot of your basic cognitive abilities—advanced reasoning, abstract thinking, awareness of self—became much more powerful. That developing continued into your early adulthood.
Once we hit our late twenties, the brain’s aging process begins and we begin losing neurons—the cells that make up the brain and nervous system. These brain changes may sound a bit scary, the process is natural and it happens to everyone.
At twenty-something’s brain reaches its peak in terms of performance, your ability to make random choices is at it’s best. Nearly 3,500 people aged 25 when asked to perform a series of online tasks, were even able to outsmart computers.
The info based on people’s choices using ‘Algorithmic Randomness’. At 25, accuracy & speed increased together in a linear manner.
Are you feeling sorry for yourself after reading this? you don’t have to. Even though you’re measurably slipping in some areas, you’re still pretty good at lot of stuff. At various stages you perform well at different things.
And by that i want to convey that with ageing our brain grow in other ways. Our problem solving abilities and emotional evaluation ability increases.
But if still not satisfied, there are studies that also proves ‘Meditation can rewire your brain for the better’. Meditation not only improves focus and helps us to stay calm throughout the day, but it actually has a whole bunch of great benefits. Meditation has been linked to is improving rapid memory recall.
In a experiment, both focused-attention and open-monitoring mediation was advised to perform to see if there was any improvement in creativity afterwards.
They found that people who practiced focused-attention meditation performed better on a task.
Meditation has also been linked to improving memory skills and the amount of gray matter in the brain.
We can get the best out of our brains at every stage, the only thing that matters is how you see yourself. Age is just a number, you are as young, as mentally fit as you think of yourself.
