With so much misinformation, it totally makes sense to be afraid and to be unsure who to trust. My effort here is to clear some of the biggest weight-loss myths that people may not be so aware of, in the hope that it will give you the inspiration to take charge of your health and change it for the better.

Myth #1. Eat 6 small meals for a faster metabolism

 

 

 

 

When comparing eating 3 meals a day with 500 calories vs. eating 6 meals a day with 250, neither causes a greater calorie burn.

The takeaway point here is that since meal frequency does not really matter, focus on finding what works best for you.

What matters much more is WHAT you’re eating, not when you’re eating it for weight loss.

 

 

 

 

 

Myth #2. Exercise alone can help you lose weight

 

 

 

Let me be clear, exercise is amazing for a variety of reasons. Exercise is something your body needs & something you should be doing!

 

  • Better blood flow
  • Burning more calories
  • Improved posture
  • Heart health
  • And much more

 

Above mentioned are a few benefits of exercising. But it’s not that it is all you need to lose weight. So, this is nothing more than a myth!!

 

 

 

 

Myth #3. You can crunch your way to a 6-pack

 

 

 

 

The body anatomically has your muscles located underneath where you store fat.
It’s likely that you already have great abs from the natural movements in.

Let me tell you one thing clearly crunches will not get you abs. No amount of crunches or sit-ups will give you a six-pack.

Abdominal exercises will certainly strengthen your core muscles, but a six-pack only becomes visible by reducing your body fat to lower ranges.

 

 

 

 

 

Myth #4. Eating less will help you lose weight

 

 

 

This is not true! Well not exactly — of course it is a good idea to eat less, but eat less of fatty and foods that are bad for you and are full of empty calories, like chocolate (sadly) and other treats.

But you still need to eat a normal amount of food so that your body will have energy and be able to do what it needs to do. Skipping breakfast is a big no-no.

You need to eat first thing to kick-start your metabolism. Waiting to eat until later in the day may mean that you will be overly hungry and eat too much.

 

 

 

 

Myth #5. Carbs are evil

 

 

 

Carbohydrates are an essential part of a healthy diet. If you eat them in the right quantities and without throwing lots of fats substances on top of them, like butter on your potatoes, they will not cause you to gain weight.

Switch to whole grain and wholemeal carbs instead: stuff like brown rice and wholemeal bread. Also, if you leave the skin on potatoes, you will increase your intake of fiber.

 

 

 

 

 

Myth #6. It’s Going to Take a Lot of Time And Effort to Succeed

 

 

 

 

I think that many people feel that getting healthy takes so much time because they are resistant rather than truly believing it takes hours and hours a day.

My CPR instructor who lost over 100 pounds in a year shifted from eating McDonald’s and fast food every meal, to changing just 1 meal a day to “real food” like healthy meats, vegetables, and brown rice.

He just changed one meal at the start.

No exercise. No massive life change. No countless hours counting calories. 100 pounds lost in a year.

The vast majority of your success (whether you want to slim down, or are a young guy trying to look like someone in “300”) will come from the food you eat.

And once you have ingrained good eating habits or the weight loss is slowing down, then you can add in exercise for maximal effect.
