If you’re not taking care of your laptop properly, it can overheat. Overheating can easily damage your laptop and cause hardware failure; this is the main reason laptops stop functioning properly.
A laptop’s design is so compact that it is not easy to clean or upgrade. Laptops are more vulnerable to overheating due to less space.
The entire cooling mechanism in a laptop relies on a single internal fan and heat sink. Due to which laptops getting overheated is one of the common problems.
Make sure your laptop continues running at its best by following these 7 tips on how to avoid overheating.
#1. Make sure your laptop is not collecting dust
It’s the first and the most common reason of overheating, dust get collected inside your laptop, it build up and hinder the built-in fans or block the vents, making it more likely for the device to overheat.
An easy fix to this problem is buying a can of compressed air, which you can spray into the laptop’s vents- Get compressed air here
#2. Power Saving Mode
If you are using Microsoft Windows then you can enable ‘Power Saving’ mode while doing casual works like typing, browsing etc. Power saving mode limits the CPU performance which also prevents overheating.
#3. Do Not Use It On Your Lap
Laptop means that a portable computer that can be put on your lap while using it. But this is wrong.
Actually these machines are not designed to be used while being put on your lap, this will entirely block the air vents and fresh air can’t get inside your laptop.
#4. Don’t use laptop on soft materials like bed or sofa
When you place your laptop on a soft, uneven surface, air from the internal fans gets blocked, and your device isn’t able to regulate its temperature properly.
You should use your laptop on a surface that allows for air to exit!
#5. Use software that help you cut down on the excessive app usage, thereby reducing instances
The more software your laptop has, the more it has to work to perform better which in terms contributes to more heating.
#6. Give it Space
Make sure your computer has free space around all sides and that nothing is blocking the cooling fans.
Avoid placing the computer next to heat sources such as heaters or other hot electronic components. Computer cases are built to achieve maximum cooling efficiency and blocking just one of the fans greatly reduces the cooling effectiveness of the case.
#7. Buy a cooling pad
Lastly, if by following all the steps listed above your lappy still don’t stop troubling you, maybe it’s the time to buy a cooling pad. Each laptop model has different safe temperature operating ranges and a cooling pad can be a solution to all. This not only provides a hard, flat surface, but also increases airflow and helps manage heat.
I have tested many of them & the best i have find is this-
Tarkan Heavy Duty LED Cooling Pad- It has 4 Fans with Mysterious LED illumination. Powerful, yet silent- Get it here
