The pain is considered as one of the sharpest pain a person can ever have. I have been there & know exactly what it feels like.
The most common oral health problems are dental cavities, also known as caries, refers to a condition in which tooth decay causes holes in the teeth.
This decay is usually a result of bacterial infection that leads to demineralization and destruction of the hard tissues in the teeth.
But it’s not only a dentist who can help you deal with it, you’re pretty capable of busting this monstrous problem yourself.
Here are the 4 hacks using which you can get rid of your tooth decay & cavities pretty easily yet quickly.
#1. Salt water
Add one teaspoon of salt to 8 oz. of warm water and stir it thoroughly. Gargle with the mixture for 30 seconds & repeat this every night before bed.
What this does is, it helps fight the bacteria present in your teeth cavity. It also aids in decreasing sensitivity in your teeth giving you a temporary relief.
Of course, it will not help you cure the teeth decay but will provide teeth the protection from bacteria to prevent it from getting worst overnight!
#2. Coconut oil
Lauric acid is one of the most effective fatty acids at stopping bacterial growth that causes tooth decay & guess what the coconut got this!
Coconut oil kills the bacteria (Lactobacillus and Streptococcus mutans) which secrete acids. This acid eats away the minerals in your teeth after they eat sugars from the foods that you consume.
Plus, coconut has antiseptic properties that helps your teeth recover from decay & Cavities.
So, take virgin coconut oil, put a spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth. Move it around inside your mouth for about 15 minutes. Make sure that you work it into the spaces between the teeth too.
Ensure that you relax your jaw during your oil pulling session. When the oil turns white and creamy-looking, spit it out into the garbage/toilet. Rinse your mouth with water & you’re done!
The ingredient that makes garlic such a potent plant is a compound known as Allicin. It is the one which produces the most unpleasant effect associated with this herb: garlic breath!
But other than this, it has a number of other beneficial effects like a powerful antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral agent.
So these properties of garlic make it extremely useful in the treatment of a number of oral health issues. The best part is, it don’t harm good bacteria, just the bad, harmful ones!
Garlic can be used in multiple ways, it can be crushed, and mixed into a paste with salt, and applied directly on a tooth that’s in pain due to infection. Or mixing the garlic with peanut butter which may help mask the strong taste.
#4. Baking Soda
Baking soda helps to clean food from our teeth & also lowers the acid levels in our mouth to help reduce the risk of cavities.
Baking soda can re-balance the levels of acid and help to treat and prevent halitosis. Dissolve half a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water to neutralize your mouth pH & beat bad breath at the same time.
#5. Use DIY Toothpaste
This should probably be your first step towards curing your teeth decay. A fluoride free DIY toothpaste that can help you prevent the teeth from getting demineralized & damaged.
Here’s the way you do it:
- Melt or slightly soften coconut oil.
- Mix in with ingredients like 2-3 Tablespoons of baking soda, 2 small packets of stevia powder, 15-20 drops of peppermint or cinnamon essential oil and stir well.
- If using semi-hard coconut oil, use a fork, if not, use a spoon. If you are using completely melted coconut oil, you will need to stir several times while the mixture cools to keep the baking soda incorporated.
- Put mixture into small glass jar.
- Let cool completely & you’re done!
- Brush your teeth daily with this or if want better results use twice a day.
You may be thinking “4/5 steps of this article are involved in this DIY toothpaste so will I cover all the other steps by just following this?”
Well, maybe! But it will be more beneficial for you to do the individual steps as well!
You don’t have to follow all the 5 steps everyday, just do it once or twice a week & you’ll be all good to cure your tooth decay or cavity yourself.
